Saturday 12th June 2010.

We have a full day of jam packed entertainment...... and no, thats not just me in Top hat and Tails. This has been several years in the planning, numerous wedding shows, meetings with suppliers....... and now we can sit back and relax. If only it was that easy...........

As things are progressing fast there is no turning back, I can see the 12th June on the horizon.

OK! so, enough of the preable and down to business

Marriage.

Laura and I are not very religious so we have chosen to opt for a civil ceremony. We have been together for a number of years now and feel its time to tie the knot, hence all our current effort. Not being a church wedding, it is not as traditional as most weddings go (we have a women as a best man) you would think it would be easy but so far we have to choose vows and music. So, after hours of listening to British Airways music we managed to find the pieces we like. However it was not one of theirs!

One of the scariest parts of the whole process so far wasn't choosing the dress or the cake or even the whole proposal...it was going to see the Registrar! You would think that someone who deals with "happy couples" all day would be happy....unfortunately she wasn't a little ray or sunshine, she more like a dark and gloomy rain cloud.

No one warns you that you have to pass an examination before you get married. The exam isn't a traditional school subject...you are tested on your knowledge of you future husband or wife! Now I can hear you saying, if you are going to marry that person you hope that you know everything about them. I'm sure that if you were talking to friends you would be able to recall all the important details - full name, address, date of birth etc. In the scary "exam room" otherwise known as the Registrar's office your mind goes blank, your palms go sweaty and you can't remember your own name let alone the maiden name of your future spouses mother! Be warned...joking doesn't help the situation!

Thankfully she realised that we knew each other and gave us a rainforests worth of paperwork that we had to complete!

Wedding Breakfast.

The wedding breakfast...quite why it's called "breakfast" when you are eating beef and pavlova we aren't sure! We do have a couple of theories...

Could it be that it's the first meal after you have become "husband and wife" Its like opening your eyes after having a nice sleep to the meal of your dreams

I think I prefer this theory...at some point a groom was asked to organise the meal after the wedding. He thought about the sort of food his future wife likes and had a complete memory blank. Instead of asking her and risking her thinking he didn't know her at all, he remembered he once made her eggs and bacon in bed! Haha

The wedding breakfast is the part where the bride relaxes and the groom grows more and more nervous. Not only does he have to make a speech about how they met, how much he loves her whilst trying to keep the new mother in law happy.

The poor groom has no idea what his best friend is going to say about him. Thankfully both "mother in laws" are amazing and there is nothing too scary that our "best man" can say...or so we think!

Evening celebration.

The evening entertainment will be very lively and vibrant. So put on your shades sit back, relax and enjoy.
